About the Service

What Is a Manchester Airport Taxi?

A Manchester Airport taxis are pre-booked private hire vehicles that takes you directly between your home, hotel, or workplace and Manchester Airport, without stops, without changes, and without the uncertainty of a metered fare.

Unlike a black cab on a rank, a pre-booked transfer gives you a confirmed price before the driver sets off, a named driver allocated to your journey, and real-time flight tracking so the pickup adjusts to your actual landing time rather than the original schedule.

Transfers 247 operates this service from Manchester, covering Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, with the airport pick-up charge included in the fare you agree at booking. Nothing is added on the day.

Whether you are flying at 5am or landing at midnight, the service runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including bank holidays and Christmas Day.

2026 Terminal Update

Taxi For Manchester Airport Terminals in 2026 — What You Need to Know

Terminal 1 closed on 19 November 2025 as part of Manchester Airport's £1.3 billion transformation programme. The airport now has two operating terminals. If any document, booking confirmation, or website still refers to Terminal 1, it is out of date. Always confirm your terminal with your airline before travel.

Every Transfers 247 driver is briefed on the current terminal layout. When you book, tell us which terminal your airline uses and we handle the rest.

Terminal Status Airlines (2026) Pick-Up Zone Security
Terminal 2 Open easyJet, Emirates, Jet2, Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Turkish Airlines, Wizz Air, TUI and most other carriers P3 — T2 Multi-Storey West (M90 5PR) CT scanners: no need to remove liquids or laptops

Terminal 1 Closed No airlines Not operational Not operational

Walking between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 via the Skylink covered walkway takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Both terminals connect to The Station for trains and the Metrolink tram. If your gate changes terminal on the day, contact us so we can confirm the correct pickup zone.

Pick-Up and Drop-Off

How Pick-Up and Drop-Off Works at Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport switched to a fully barrierless ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system in March 2025. This means there are no barriers to stop at when entering or exiting. Cameras scan number plates on arrival and departure, and payment is made online by midnight the following day at pay.manchesterairport.co.uk.

Where does the driver collect me after landing?

Terminal 2 collections take place in the P3 pick-up zone inside the T2 Multi-Storey West car park. This is a short covered walk from the arrivals hall. Terminal 3 collections use the P14 zone in the T3 Multi-Storey. Neither zone is on the terminal forecourt — the forecourt is for drop-offs only.

What if someone tries to pick up from the drop-off zone?

Picking up a passenger in the drop-off forecourt triggers an automatic £100 Parking Charge Notice (PCN), reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. Transfers 247 drivers always use the correct pick-up zones. They know the airport layout and know what a PCN costs.

Is the pick-up charge added to my fare?

No. The airport pick-up charge is already included in the fixed price you receive at booking. You will not see it added at the end of the journey. The same applies to the drop-off charge if you are going to the airport. What you agree is what you pay.

Terminal 2 Pick-Up — P3T2 Multi-Storey West car park. Satnav: M90 5PR. Maximum stay 15 minutes. A short covered walk from the T2 arrivals hall.
Terminal 3 Pick-Up — P14T3 Multi-Storey car park. Follow signs for Terminal 3 on airport grounds. Short walk from the T3 arrivals exit.
Drop-Off Charge (2026)From £5 for 5 minutes at T2 and T3. Maximum stay 10 minutes. Re-entering within 30 minutes adds a £25 fee. All charges are included in your Transfers 247 fare.
Free Pick-Up ZoneJetParks 1 (M90 5AZ) is a free waiting area with a 24-hour shuttle to the terminals. Practical for self-driving collections, but the shuttle adds time compared to a pre-booked pick-up at arrivals.
Blue Badge HoldersBlue Badge holders may use the terminal forecourt drop-off zone free of charge. Show the badge to marshals on entry. This covers drop-off only.

Common Questions

Manchester Airport Taxi FAQ

Answers to the questions passengers ask most often, from pricing and terminals to delays and drop-off charges.

How much is a taxi to Manchester Airport?

The fare depends on your pickup postcode, vehicle type, and time of travel. Transfers 247 provides a fixed price at the point of booking, agreed before your journey starts. A taxi from Manchester city centre (M1) to Manchester Airport typically costs between £25 and £40. Enter your postcode in the booking form for an exact quote.

Which terminal should I use at Manchester Airport in 2026?

Manchester Airport now operates two terminals. Terminal 1 closed permanently in November 2025. Terminal 2 handles the majority of flights, including easyJet, Emirates, Jet2, Virgin Atlantic, and Qatar Airways. Terminal 3 is used exclusively by Ryanair. Always check your airline's confirmation before you travel, as some older bookings may still show Terminal 1.

Is the pick-up charge at Manchester Airport included in your fare?

Yes. The airport pick-up charge is included in the fixed fare Transfers 247 quotes at booking. You will not see any additional charge added at the end of your journey. The pick-up zone for Terminal 2 is P3 in the T2 Multi-Storey West car park. Terminal 3 collections use the P14 zone.

How long will the driver wait if my flight is delayed?

Transfers 247 includes free waiting time from the moment your flight lands, not from the scheduled arrival time. Flight tracking monitors your inbound service in real time, so the driver adjusts their arrival based on your actual landing rather than the original schedule. If immigration or baggage collection takes longer than expected, contact the team directly.

Can I get a taxi from Manchester Airport to Leeds, Sheffield, or Liverpool?

Yes. Transfers 247 covers long-distance journeys from Manchester Airport to Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham, York, and other UK cities. The fixed price for long-distance routes is confirmed at booking. For groups, a people carrier or minibus is often more cost-effective than multiple train tickets.

Can I book a baby seat for a Manchester Airport taxi?

Yes. Baby seats and child booster seats are available on request at no extra charge. When booking, tell us each child's age so the correct seat is fitted before your driver arrives. Seats are available in any vehicle in the fleet.

Is a taxi cheaper than the train from Manchester Airport to the city centre?

The train takes around 20 minutes and costs approximately £4.80 per person. A taxi takes 25 to 35 minutes but travels door to door, handles your luggage, and costs a flat rate regardless of how many bags you carry. For two or more people, a taxi typically works out cheaper per person and avoids the Skylink walkway and platform changes.

How do I pay for drop off at Manchester Airport?

Manchester Airport operates a barrierless ANPR system. Cameras record your number plate on entry and exit. You pay online at pay.manchesterairport.co.uk by midnight the day after your visit. Setting up an AutoPay account means the charge is taken automatically. For Transfers 247 bookings, the drop-off charge is included in your fixed fare.

Are there taxis at Manchester Airport?

Yes. Licensed black cab taxis operate from ranks outside both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Private hire vehicles, including Transfers 247, operate from designated pick-up zones inside the car parks. Pre-booking is advisable at peak times, early mornings, and late nights when rank availability can be limited and surge pricing can apply to ride-hailing apps.

How much is a taxi from Manchester Airport to Sheffield or Birmingham?

Long-distance fares from Manchester Airport are fixed and confirmed at booking. The journey to Sheffield takes approximately 60 minutes via the M67 and A57. Birmingham is approximately 90 minutes via the M6. For an exact fare, enter Manchester Airport and your destination postcode in the booking form.
